“After learning I had my first ever abscess, I was told there were no treatments available to save the affected tooth. Unfortunately, that tooth helped secure a 3-point bridge I’d had for over 30 years and the bridge would have to be removed, which would leave a 2-tooth gap. The dentist who said there were no treatment options available fortunately recommended Dr. Robert Henshaw, periodontist extraordinaire. I was in full panic mode the 7 weeks I had to wait for my first appointment with Dr. Henshaw, thinking about the dentist’s words about no treatments. Dr. Henshaw performed a thorough examination, and then assured me that I was a candidate for implants. This required two surgeries, one to remove the abscessed tooth and after that healed, one to set the two implants, along with progress checks in between. Alejandra, Dr. Henshaw’s assistant, was thorough in her care during every appointment, and kept me informed about changes to at-home care after each procedure.
